With more than 5 600 employees globally and 400 in Luxembourg, American privately owned bank Brown Brothers Harriman, is constantly looking for specific fund services profiles such as Transfer Agency, Alternatives, Global Custody and Fund Accounting. On February 9th, Dominic Turner (Assistant Vice President, Human Resources Manager, Talent Acquisition) will share is challenges and best practices with the audience of the first edition of Recruiters Day.

According to Dominic Turner, BBH aims at recruiting from 70 to 100 new talents in 2017. He also underlines that fact that the time allocated to recruit greatly depends on the role: "Typically the time to hire is relatively quickly but some of the more specialized client service roles can be more difficult to fill".

A specific onboarding process begins once Dominic and his team have found the perfect match: "The onboarding process at BBH is designed to create an engaging, productive and positive employee experience through which new talents will gain strategic, operational and organizational know-how needed to succeed at BBH"

When meeting with the HR Manager we also talked about the bank's talent acquisition policy and its transformation. "The project restructured our recruiting model to reduce our cost to hire while successfully managing the significant increase in volume we have anticipated as the firm continues to grow. We’re making investments in our people, processes, and technology to create a Talent Acquisition program that is forward thinking, sustainable, cost-efficient, and effective — successfully competing against larger firms" underlines Dominic Turner. He also thinks that a talent acquisition system needs to enhance the recruitment process for applicants, managers and recruiters and that is therefore needs to be a secure repository for applicant data yet underpin robust but streamlined processes. He adds: "The talent acquisition system should integrate seamlessly with the core HR system and have strong reporting functionality".

Dominic Turner also shared his opinion on the current Luxembourg market of recruitment: "In the wake of the financial crisis several factors including regulatory factors, automation and off shoring of operational tasks, combined with technological advances have created a constantly evolving market place and talent pool". He concludes: "If we can continue to embrace technology, be creative and adaptable we can utilize Luxembourg's many strengths, including its depth of diversity, educational and labour market flexibility, and be well equipped to meet these challenges".


Who is Dominic Turner?

Dominic Turner joined Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH) in 2010 as part of an initiative to onboard major new clients and act as a catalyst for the rapid head count growth for the firm in Luxembourg.  In 2012 he was instrumental in the set up and growth of the firm's Krakow office which included the build out of a world class technology development hub. He was responsible for overseeing and developing the campus recruitment model and overall hiring strategy to achieve the growth of the office to over 1000 employees within 4 years. Dominic has considerable expertise in executive recruitment across multiple locations. As Head of Talent Acquisition for BBH in Luxembourg he is responsible for overseeing all aspects of recruitment and has ownership for defining and standarizing best practices, recruitment analytics and internal career management.

Prior to joining BBH Dominic held several roles at Badenoch & Clark focusing on external search and recruitment in London and Luxembourg.
